Correct answer: C. Statement I is correct but Statement II is incorrectकथन I सही है, किंतु कथन II गलत है

Explanation

In Nyāya, debate (tarka/vāda) requires a subject about which there is doubt (saṁśaya). A settled, well-established matter (siddhānta) leaves nothing to argue, so Statement I is correct. But a wholly unknown matter cannot be argued either, since doubt itself needs some prior acquaintance with the subject; hence Statement II is incorrect. So Statement I is correct but Statement II is incorrect.
