Correct answer: C. Statement I is true but Statement II is falseकथन I सत्य है, लेकिन कथन II असत्य है

Explanation

Nyāya proves a thesis through the five-membered syllogism (pratijñā, hetu, udāharaṇa, upanaya, nigamana) – Statement I is true. The thesis is stated first as pratijñā and repeated as nigamana (conclusion); the udāharaṇa (example) states the general rule with an example, not the thesis, so Statement II is false. Answer: Statement I is true but Statement II is false (official key C).
