Unit 6 · Logical Reasoning Paper 1 · 14 October 2022 Evening

One day a man left his home for a morning walk and went 12 km southwards. He then turned right and walked 8 km. Again turned right and walked 12 km, turned left and walked 10 km. How many kilometres the man has to walk to reach straight to his home?

Correct answer: B. 18 km18 किमी

Explanation

Take home as (0, 0). Walking 12 km south gives (0, −12). Facing south, a right turn faces west; 8 km west gives (−8, −12). A second right turn faces north; 12 km north gives (−8, 0). A left turn now faces west; 10 km west gives (−18, 0). He is due west of home on the same line, so the straight distance back is 8 + 10 = 18 km.
