Unit 2 · Hindi Language & Pedagogy HTET 2024 Level-2 (TGT)

Direction : Answer questions 36 to 38 after reading the Hindi passage given below. (The passage is printed only in Hindi in the question paper; a translation is given here for convenience.)

We must understand that the mere absence of war is not itself the definition of peace. The peaceful society that Buddha envisaged also carried that message of equality which makes us realise that every attempt to show one human being as separate from another is an enemy of humanity. To defeat every such attempt is not only befitting a human being, it is also a condition of living as one. Our concern should be how we make ourselves human beings and how we keep ourselves human. To become human means to awaken within oneself the feeling of understanding another's pain, to awaken within oneself that compassion which joins us to the other. We shall have to build small bridges to connect with others — a bridge of compassion, a bridge of friendship, a bridge of equality, a bridge that removes inequality …. Only by understanding this can we adopt the mantra of humane conduct and become enlightened.

Explanation

मनुष्यता is formed by adding the suffix 'ता' to मनुष्य and denotes a quality, so it is a भाववाचक संज्ञा (abstract noun), not a common noun. अनुपस्थिति does carry two prefixes (अन् + उप), प्रत्येक (प्रति + एक) is अव्ययीभाव समास and विषम (वि + सम) involves षत्व, a व्यंजन संधि.मनुष्यता, मनुष्य में 'ता' प्रत्यय जोड़कर बना है और गुण का बोध कराता है, अतः यह भाववाचक संज्ञा है, जातिवाचक नहीं। अनुपस्थिति में दो उपसर्ग (अन् + उप) हैं, प्रत्येक (प्रति + एक) अव्ययीभाव समास है तथा विषम (वि + सम) में षत्व अर्थात् व्यंजन संधि है।
